Unfair dismissal application fee

Recently I commenced representing a client in an unfair dismissal application to the Fair Work Commission. When lodging your unfair dismissal you are required to pay a fee of about $70 within 3 days. For people on higher incomes this is not a big ask. However for someone who has just lost their job and had a relatively low income or savings, there is the possibility to get the application fee waived. The Fair Work Commission may waive the fee if Commission is satisfied that the person will suffer serious hardship if the person is required to pay the fee. The same applies for other processes in the Commission such as general protections and anti-bullying applications.
I was successful in getting the fee waived for my client which was a good start to the the process. For further information on how to navigate the Fair Work Commission processes, please contact us.
